Rate card
Published rather than quoted, so that every buyer sees the same number and every reader can see it too.
Why this is public
A rate quoted privately is a rate that can be varied for the buyer who asks the most. Publishing it removes the negotiation and, with it, the possibility that a larger cheque quietly buys something else. These are the rates. They are the same for a national museum and a two person archive.
The rates
| What | Term | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Listing, permanent institution | Twelve months | £180 |
| Listing, time limited exhibition, course or programme | Until it closes, minimum three months | £90 |
| Newsletter sponsor line | One issue | £250 |
| Newsletter sponsor line | Four issues, paid in advance | £850 |
Prices exclude VAT where applicable. Invoiced by Glow Gazette on publication, thirty days. Non profit archives and student run programmes may ask for the rate to be waived, and we grant that by asking rather than by negotiation. A waived listing is still labelled paid, because the labelling describes the section, not the invoice.
What a sponsor line is
One labelled block in the quarterly newsletter, set apart from the writing, carrying the sponsor's name, one sentence and one link. That is the whole product.
What the money cannot buy
- An article, a mention in an article, or a link inside editorial text.
- A position other than alphabetical, or any form of ranking, score or badge.
- Sight of an article, a newsletter or a headline before publication.
- Removal or softening of anything we have published, including about the buyer.
- A recommendation, an endorsement, a rating or a review.
- Any influence on which subjects we cover or which claims we test.
If a buyer asks for any of these, we decline the sale and keep the correspondence. If they have already paid, we refund in full. This has the useful property of being cheaper for us than the alternative.
Conflicts
If we write about an organisation that has bought a listing or a sponsor line, the article says so at the point of mention. If we cannot write about them without a conflict we are uncomfortable with, we return the money instead of pulling the article.
The Gazette, four times a year
One long letter a quarter: what we have been reading, what turned out to be untrue, and what is worth going to see. No selling, because we have nothing to sell you.
Sponsor lineEach issue carries one sponsor line, labelled as such and set apart from the writing. Sponsors are shown the rate card, never the copy. See the rate card.
